Def Jam Blaster grew up in Missouri City, Texas where he began his career as a disc jockey in 1985. He attended Fort Bend County public schools before earning a Bachelors Degree in Communications from the University of Houston. In 1992, Def Jam Blaster embarked on a career as a disc jockey for Clear Channel Communications. Delivering regular and superior performances on two different radio stations in both the Hip-Hop and R&B format, he has amassed loyal and diverse support base in the Gulf Coast region, making him Texas' most sought after DJ.

Following graduation in 1996, he organized and promoted largely successful parties on the college and professional circuit within the Houston metropolitan area . In 1997, he launched the first in a series of five CD compilations. His talent has won him the acclaim of many. Subsequently, he has been invited to perform at concerts and huge concert after parties by artists Forbes Magazine has listed among America's "Top 10 Highest Paid Entertainers": Master P. and Puff Daddy, and also for countless other celebrities. His most recent annual performances include:

  • Beach Party- an annual weekend long beach party in Galveston, Texas that has consistently attracted over 150,000 attendants;
  • Texas Freaknic- an annual weekend long festival of concerts and parties in Houston, Texas featuring television superstars like Shemar Moore of the "The Young & the Restless", and Nia Long. The event has previously attracted over 10,000 attendants ;

  • Texas Relays
    - a two-day block party in Austin, Texas that has consistently attracted 7,000 attendants and is headlined by The Blaster;

  • Cancun Jazz Festival- an annual festival dedicated to young professionals in Cancun, Mexico. The event attracted over 15, 000 attendants annually.

FUBU has tapped Def Jam Blaster to perform along with other world famous disc jockeys, including Kid Capri and Kool DJ Red Alert, on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten during the 1999 Labor Day weekend. Over 2,000 stars attended. He was also selected to perform at Jermaine Dupri's Birthday Party in Atlanta in October of 99, and for The Superbowl in Atlanta in January 2000. In February 2001, he appeared on two episodes of BET's Rap City: The Bassment. In 2001, he performed for the Puff Daddy album release party in Houston, and was recently elected to The Source Magazine's 5 Mic Council to vote for the annual Source Awards. J Records hired him in 2002 for Houston's Alicia Keys Afterparty. He teamed up with Puffy again in early 2004. That same year brought the Black MBA Conference to Houston, where he performed for Ford Motor Company... He can also be heard hosting " The Hollywood Boys Show" Monday through Friday evenings from 10-1 on KBXX, 97.9 The Box. Sister station KMJQ, Majic 102 features his 70's & 80's mixes on Fridays and Saturdays. He also has a syndicated show on Continental Airlines on the Urban Groove Channel.When he produced commercially released mixtapes, his titles soundscanned over fourty-thousand units in the South.

His production credits include assisting to produce remixes for superstar level artists for Loud Records, Arista Records, and Universal Music Group. These artists include Scarface, Wu-Tang Clan, Goodie Mob, Mobb Deep and Rakim.

In June of 1999, Def Jam Blaster launched Insomniax Music Corporation Based in Missouri City, Texas, Insomniax Music Corporation is an innovator in the entertainment industry delivering a family of diverse entertainment solutions available in traditional and new media formats. Def Jam Blaster brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Insomniax Music Corporation as he has interacted directly with superstar level artists and a host of entertainment industry executives for over a decade.

Blaster was voted National Morning Show DJ of The Year in 2002-2003 by a panel of his peers in the music industry, as well as 2002-2003 DJ of The Year locally in Houston.

In his capacity as CEO of Insomniax Music Corporation, Def Jam Blaster is dedicated to community outreach programs that help shape our nation's future leaders.
